You may not have known this, but, in years past, I was a big complainer. I used to complain about anything and everything to anyone who would listen. My mom was subject to hours upon hours of complaining, sometimes about things that had happened years ago. However, I don't complain to hardly anyone at all anymore. Like everyone, sometimes I just need to get things off my chest, and, unlike most people, I don't feel any better unless there's a possibility of someone hearing/reading what I have to say. Still, even that doesn't happen that often.
Why? Simply because I really have nothing to complain about. Yes, I am almost 22 and still living at home. No, that's not exactly where I want to be. There are plenty of things I want: a job, a wife, a flat-screen iMac, etc. However, I figure those will come eventually. From where I stand, things could be a lot worse. In fact, they have been at times. There are many things I'm thankful for right now. I'm thankful for my family's new house, since it enables me to walk to the library. I'm thankful to be out of school. Some of you people who went to school with me may find that offensive, but you friends of mine had nothing to do with it. It was the bullies, the homework, the exams, the projects, certain teachers, etc. I am very glad I don't have to deal with all that anymore. I'm also quite thankful that my mom has a well-paying job. Some of you may not know this, but, from the summer of 1999 to February 2001, my mom started a day care in her own house because she couldn't find anyone to take care of my disabled sister. I can tell you that having several little kids running amok all day every weekday was no fun for either my mom or me. I think we are both very glad that she doesn't have to do that anymore. Look at all the other stuff my family and I have: three computers, three cars, three TVs, countless books, several DVDs, five DVD players (including a portable one), a brand-new iPod, a very nice portable CD player, a few pairs of headphones...and the list goes on. I'm not trying to brag about what I have, especially since most of you reading this probably have more/better stuff than I have anyway. My point is: There are millions of people around the world that would give anything to have even 25% of the stuff my family and I own. I am thankful to God that He blessed my family and I with enough money to have those things. So, even though my life may not be perfect, it certainly could be a lot worse.
