"I Just Want to Live When I'm Alive!"

Most people know Bon Jovi for 80's hits such as "You Give Love a Bad Name" or "Wanted Dead or Alive". While those are good songs, my favorite BJ song is a somewhat lesser-known tune from the early 00's titled "It's My Life." Its message is similar to the one in Tim McGraw's "Live Like You Were Dying," but I prefer Jovi's song, mostly because I'm more into rock music than country-western. The singer talks about living his life to the fullest, especially in the chorus:

It's my life!
It's now or never!
I ain't gonna live forever!
I just want to live when I'm alive!
My heart is like an open highway!
Like Frankie said, "I did it my way!"
I just want to live when I'm alive!
It's my life!
You may wonder why I haven't parodied this song yet. Well, it doesn't really need to be rewritten, because it makes an excellent point on its own. You only live once, so why not live life to its fullest? That's pretty much the meaning behind the saying, "Carpe Diem!" (Seize the Day!) This planet may not be a perfect place, but that doesn't mean that there's nothing good in it at all! Enjoy life while you can, because, as the Bible says, "What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes." (James 4:14, NIV)
I'll admit that, in the past, I didn't live life to the fullest. I missed out on a lot of things for various reasons; some beyond my control, some not. Now that I realize that my days are numbered, just like everyone else's, I have to make the most of them. Frankly, I feel that sitting around on Facebook is no way for anyone to live his/her life. If I'm going to live my life to the fullest, I need to be out doing the things I want to do. It's like my friend Christina once said: "If you don't give life a chance, life won't give you a chance. Just get out there and do what you love. The rest will fall into place eventually." Truer words have rarely been spoken.
Any comments?
